Thanks for checking out my site! I’m AJ Gerou, a Marquette-based realtor here in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula. I am proud to work under Northern Michigan Land Brokers, and have lived in Marquette for the last four years. I am a graduate of Northern Michigan University, and have previously worked in both the banking industry and tourism marketing. While both were a fantastic learning experience for me, I knew deep down that my real passion was real estate. I obtained my license in January of 2025, and have been working both as a Licensed Real Estate Assistant & Marketing Manager for Northern Michigan Land Brokers since. As I delve into the realm of working with clients of my own, I feel it’s important that they get a bit of my background and a better understanding of who I am. 

When I was nine years old, I was given a lego set. With that lego set, I was constantly building homes from my own imagination. One set became two, two became three, and after a while I had more sets than I could count. From this, I quickly developed a deep interest in architecture and design. As I grew older, I found fascination in entrepreneurship and the business world as a whole. I watched every real estate-related show that was on TV, I read numerous books about real estate, different styles of homes, and entrepreneurship. I was fortunate enough to have a family that personally knew quite a few business owners, and I knew that someday I wanted to take control of my own schedule & workflow in a non-corporate, non- “9 to 5” way, just like them. By the time I graduated high school, I knew that at some point in my career, I wanted to combine my love of architecture, design, and the business realm. I toyed with the idea of getting my license right out of high school, but ultimately decided to pursue a four-year degree in order to gain more knowledge on business as a whole, as well as develop & foster professional connections. It was also important to me that I make my parents proud, as neither of them pursued higher education, and I wanted to break that cycle. After graduation, I worked as an Assistant Branch Manager for a financial institution here in the Marquette area, and then for a local marketing firm, and while both were wonderful experiences, neither of them fulfilled what I’m sincerely ardent about. 

Having been raised in a home so full of love, unforgettable moments, milestones, and learning experiences, I want to help others find that same thing. A home isn’t just a place to sleep and eat, it is a place where memories are made and where your life story is written. I am a firm believer that life is better for everyone if we help each other, and that is my biggest driver to succeed in real estate. I have a genuine love and passion for people, hearing their stories, and wanting to help make a positive change in their life. Real estate is one of the biggest and best investments you will ever make in your life, and I want to be a part of that and make it as smooth and enjoyable of a process as possible.
